Protected
from a predatory outside world by the Southern Sierra Madre,
the Nahuas of the small towns in the Balsas river basin awake
daily to behold illuminated mountains in an never-ending spectacle
that changes from hot, dusty yellows and warm golden ochrers,
to the cool violets and deepening hues of dusk and cool moonlight.
This
landscape is, doubtless, the main inspiration for our artists,
who create, day after day, an incomparable form of art.
